i was watching Fiddler on the Roof yesterday, mixed with a little HBO happily ever after cartoons, and had a dream of this.

I thought of kind of a modern day fable... that dont take place in modern day... kind of old Ukraine/ Old Russia- y thing (surprise surprise)

I thought of a few brothers you see and their father, who live in a humble wooden and warm house covered with straw, to give the illusion that they live humbly. They are known in their little village for medicine delivery, from the supposedly strongest and most valuable creature, idk some Clydesdale horse with human hands and human ears.
The youngest of the brothers delivers medicines and herbs to those who order them at great lengths with this creature, and has gotten to about the age of 12 or 13 in this pic, and he has come to wonder why the only female influence in his household is a creature who can;t talk to anyone, and begins to take longer and longer side trips to find a woman to live with his family, and eventually convincing himself that he is destined to find his mother.
His distractions displease his family, and they begin to cost him...

the ending is grim, but i shall explain later

btw the fella with the red eyes in the sketch portion is one of his older brothers, and he has albanism
